Desert Clasic again.

Not much to report today. I have a couple of pics posted from on the ride. Just look at the posts below. I brought the gps with me again. So I made a screenshot of my route that I did today. MapSource said I averaged 9mph, which is good because I almost threw up on one section.

One small note before I sign off. I spent the weekend uploading music to summers new ipod the iTouch. While the product itself is by far one of those gadgets that makes me go “Dude, that is fucking cool”. It’s not especially cool out on the trail. I’d recommend it to anyone that traveled allot on the plane, bus, or train. But for use on the trail, save yourself the extra dough. Buy the shuffle or the nano for half the price.

howling south mountain

Today wasn’t all that eventful. I rode the Desert Classic trail on south mountain again. I got lost a bit but not quite as bad as on Monday.(I’m still confused how I do that with a GPS with me?) I think that riding my mountain bike for a couple of weeks till they fix the canal issue is going to help me allot. I have a tendency to be complacent when commuting, and when I ride trails I become allot more aggressive. The “whoa shit” factor, along with plenty of endorphins makes for an enjoyable ride. I may spice up my monthly commute with the occasional weekday trail ride in the future to rid the boredom.

The only thing that happened tonight was right at dusk. Dusk seems to be when all the coyotes on south mountain begin howling at each other. If I weren’t so used to hearing animals in the wild, it would be fairly unnerving. I took some time out of my ride to just sit and listen to them for a while.

Anyways, I think that I’ll try to commute once next week just to see the “progress” on the canals odor.

As a side note. Justin Timberlake is not optimum MTB music. I had to stop halfway and switch it to some good ol metal. Nothin like some thrash to get the heart pumpin.

Half of a Desert

Today I decided to make my way over to South Mountain and do the trail “Desert Classic”. I should have at least scouted the rout once before I left but I had my GPS so what could possibly go wrong? I didn’t so much get lost as I just took the wrong turn. I’m still getting used to using the gps and I accedently selected the wrong path. You can see my rout by clicking here. You can see where I went right when I should have gone left, I went a while before I realized my error.

Shout out to this guy for making south mountain an awesome experience.

Anyways, I made about the halfway point before I had decided to turn around. I didn’t want to be out there until 8 at night. I had my light on my bike but the desert at night kinda freaks me out. I’ll be doing this ride again Wednesday, so we’ll see if I can make it a 3/4 ride instead.
