Yikes 3,988 miles, give or take.

This time I’ll be ready!
Kinda…. Sorta…
I’ve got my first two stops planned in what is now being called “Great American Bicycling Beer Tour” Harpoon Brewery Kicks it off and 90 miles away we get to Amherst Brewery. And that’s as far as I got. Routing out of Boston is a pain in the ass. It took me roughly 2 hours in posting on forums, and reading about bicycle routs before I could call it a day.
I figured I’d look at all the beer mapping populated areas, and re-rout my original. I’ve since added about 900 miles, avoided Utah, added Northern Colorado, Oregon, and Northern Cali. I’ve also added a portion of the PCH because, well, because I’ve always wanted to ride that part.
This new beta rout includes more beer, more miles, and more beautiful terrain.

The beginning stages

One Item off my Bucketlist will be crossed off soon.
I’ve begun the preliminary planning on a transcontinental bicycle beer tour. My plan is to cycle from Boston to San Francisco the summer of 2011. Along the way stop by breweries, and drink lots of beer . I’ve begun the hunt and using several online utilities. beermapping.com, mapmyride.com and browsing bikeforums.net bike touring forums.

I’ve got a rough draft of my route and would like to tweak it based on Breweries and Brewpubs within that route. If anyone has any additional websites, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dead snake Sunday
Posted on 21. Apr, 2008 by Derrick.
I’m not talking about the D-backs. I’m talking real dead snakes.
Its only 2 weeks untill our big ride in California. So we hit one of our favorite rides to Fountainhills. Its a 55 mile ride with a rather large hill. Watch the youtube video below for a peek at halfway up the hill. (When I’m zoomed in on the GPS unit I was attempting to show my speed which at the time was only 6mph)

At about mile 15 there was a rather large dead snake in the road that I almost hit. When I looked back to see if Summer had ran him over she was laughing and pointing. I gatherd by her pointing at the ground that she hadn’t missed him.
Between now and our California trip we only have 1 more ride scheduled, so we wont have that much activity in commuting. We will do a couple hikes here and there to keep our legs fresh, but we need to keep off our saddles to keep biking in Cali fun. The next couple of blogs are going to be going over our equipment, route, and plan for our CPH trip.
Till next time
