Mom visit number 3
Posted on 30. Aug, 2009 by Derrick.
The tour of moms concluded with Mary coming to visit. Summers Mom made her way out in June, my Mother in July, and my Mom^2 in August.
Just like all our other visits, we did the Colorado thing and went to ball games and went hiking.

The trip wasn’t all fun and games as Mary was here on some official business. My father passed away from complications of prostate cancer in March and she was coming back to Colorado to drop off some of his ashes. We spent some time on Sunday spreading some ashes around. It was kind of an emotional day, so Mary Summer and I did a little drinking that lead me to having a nasty hang over the next day.
I truly love Mary. It wasn’t easy for her to have come here. Just loosing her husband and to have come here and put on her game face for the benefit of my sister and I. I thank her for that.

Nick and I headed over to Broncos Team camp last night
I had called a head to the Broncos front office to see if it was ok to bring my DSLR with the lens that I wanted to bring. When I explained to the guy what it was that I was bringing, he put me on hold, came back and said that it was O.K. and other people had brought theirs without any trouble.
My intentions wasn’t to get play formations, but to get some good Broncos photography. I wanted to use the evening light to get some good helmet pictures.

This was the only picture I was able to get off before this midget camera Nazi told me that my camera was considered a “professional” camera.
The camp was fun, Knowshon made a cool play. McDaniels set up a moc play scenario where the offense had the ball on the two-yard line with three seconds to go in the game, down five points. After a false start on the offense moved the unit back five yards, Orton dropped back, bought some time and fired the ball to Brandon Stokley for the score. Stokley spiked the ball, then Moreno came sprinting up behind him and standing jumped all the way over the 6-foot receiver before turning around and giving him a big pat on the helmet.

German Baseball

My Mom doesn’t know squat about baseball. Only that we all like going to games. So she took us all out to a Rockies game. Beautiful mid summer night with good company.

I was starving and we ended up with super cheap hotdogs…. $1!

We finally brought the gloves with us, The black one is from my little league days. It fits summer perfect. The other one is my Fathers from when he was a teenager. Together they are about 60 years old. That’s some old leather.

Thanks mom! She was a trooper. With two artificial hips, my mom sat in the bleachers at Coors field all the way through the 9th inning. I could tell she wanted to leave sometime in the 6th, but she didn’t say a thing about wanting to leave.

Father's Day
Posted on 21. Jun, 2009 by Derrick.
This is my first fathers day since my Dad died, so instead of bummin around the house we all went to a ball game. Oddly enough, days like today aren’t the tough ones. I’m able to hang out with lots of cool people and my little sister.
We went to another rockies game. I’m still a D-backs fan, but I was cought with a rockies hat on today(they were free). It was a beautifull day in the 80′s with typical colorado thunderheads floating around.
There were over 200 pictures taken, and I took the top 35 and put them into a photo montoge.
We started our day out by accidentally going to the wrong “food” station and instead of cashing in on our “free” hotdog we got the larger hotdog and coke (for a little more than free)

The Rockies were totally winning, and it was a great game to watch.

We didn’t do that much watching as much as we did socializing with Kits Fam. Thanks Kits fam for taking in these homeless D-backs fans!

We spent a good portion of our day guessing what was on this guys shirt. Someone had asked him to tape over the offensive part. I think it was fuzzy bunny!

The legend is, if you have a lady bug land on you, its good luck. However! I think you are cheating if you have a decoy tattooed to you. Like going duck hunting with decoys in the water.

It was a good relaxing day!

Lets play baseball hookey
Posted on 15. May, 2009 by Derrick.
I was able to snag a couple tickets from my employers for the Rockies game yesterday. The good news is that it was a day game. So we played hookey and brushed off part of the day.
I decided that we were going to ride into downtown on our bikes and save on the parking and get a little ride in as well. We started off with a little lunch and then hit the Platt River trail.
The seats were perty sweet. Club level, 3rd baseline
We were set for sun! Hats, sunscreen, and shorts. Then sat in the shade for the game.
This picture is fore my little sister, she is a big Helton fan. He smacked a foul ball that Summer thought I should have gotten, but oddly enough, I’m not 13ft tall.

Donkeys vs Chefs
Posted on 10. Dec, 2008 by Derrick.
Some of you may know, but most of you don’t, Summer is a Chiefs fan and I’m a Bronco fan. Over the years we have had some friendly bets including cakes, t-shirts, and random “favors”.
Before we moved to Denver, I had bought tickets to the Chiefs/Broncos game in the hopes that we would fly out to Colorado for the weekend and enjoy the game. It was even better living here and being able to come home and relax after the game
The Weather was a pirfect 63 degrees, wich is fitting for Colorado since mid week it was 10 degrees and snowing. What made it funnier is both Annika and Summer wore like 4 layers of pants
The game went back and forth and Eventualy the good guys won! (Duh! the Broncos) Make sure you check out the youtube video for the footage of our drunkedness!
