Quatro De Julio
Posted on 04. Jul, 2009 by Derrick.
The tour of mothers continues this week with my mother from Germany in town. She flew in on Friday and has spent a lot of time with us kids.
We started of our 4th of July festivities with cruising on over to the Franz’s house for their annual Quatro De Julio party. These parties tend to have a lot of drinking, good food, good company and the occasional cougar on the prowl. Last year it was in the 90′s and people were scrambling for cover from the sun. This year were were scrambling for cover from the rain. It pored on us during the party from about 3:30-4:30.

As always they have loads of booze, but who can resist jello shots

As always Summer when she has a bit to drink she breaks out the lazy eye….

The rain never fazed my mom. She hung tough!

Since we had planed on going back to Kit and Annika’s place for additional food cooking and consumption. We bailed early and headed back to thier house to prepare the feast. Annika and I were on kabob duty while the rest of the gang made due with playing wii bowling. My mom was a bit new to the concept and needed a few bowling lessons.

Annika and I make great sous chef’s, but only if they let us drink beer while preparing food.

Then Soren, Summer, and Annika played some Frisbee while Mom, Kit and I manned the grill (Mom and I were just moral support for Kit)

Summer decided to try and start a ruckus with me. I don’t know why she does that when I’m twice her size.

After grubbing for about an hour and stuffing our faces with all the amazing food. We made our way out to our fireworks watching destination. To pass the time we played a little more Frisbee but this time we turned on the LED’s on it and watched it glow.

We finished the eventful day with celebrating the 4th with FIREWORKS!

The Un-Birthday
Posted on 01. May, 2009 by Derrick.
Ooohh god, I’m 29. So we started at old Chicago and ended our night at Electric Cowboy. Thanks to Summer and Floyd for getting me matching birthday gifts. A flask from Summer with my favorite saying on it, and some whiskey from Floyd to go in it!
ps, myspace pose!
Summer always looks better in pics than I do, but she always is cuter than I am anyways.
I’ve known Floyd for almost half of my life, and of all those years we have “danced” at various clubs. Sometimes without our clothes. Though he is a better dancer than I am, we have always just laughed and had a good time. Summer on the other hand cant dance to save her freaking life.
Summer likes the clubs out here because she can “wear tennys”. In phoenix we wouldn’t have been let in the front door, or would have been stared at by the patrons for not trying to fit in. Its hard to explain without showing you the difference between the cultures. The eye candy is better, but the people are way way more fake, inside and out.
When Summer and Floyd get drunk, odd things happen. Food fights are typical. This night was no different in that an orange was ammunition. Summer tried to huck orange while Floyd simply just squeezed OJ in Summers hair. Good times
Thanks to the folks that came out. Theresa and Hyon, Floyd, Silent Bob(Marco), and Summer. I normally don’t celebrate my birthday, but it was fun.

St Patty's ride
Posted on 16. Mar, 2008 by Derrick.
Summer completed her first half century ride yesterday. We ended up going another 4 miles over an above our projected 50 miles giving us almost 55 miles on the day. I’m super proud of how much of a trooper Summer was. She had to do the ride without a front derailer and her rear derailer was acting up ghost shifting on some inclines.
Our route took us up the greenbelt past Tempe town lake. At noon we stopped at a small diner and had a little lunch. Then we headed up to a bike shop in north scottsdale. Our dog had eaten Summers gloves and we had to buy her some new ones. We both need more jerseys instead of riding with regular t-shirts, so i bought a new one.
Here is a gps of our route. (its a big file 1.4mb)
Later that night we went to our friends house and celebrated St Patty’s day. We had traditional Corned beef and a significant amount of beer. Summer and Karen faired well. Brandon and I ended up polishing off a bottle of Jamison, several Guinness and Smithwicks (pronounced: Smit-tics), and half a bottle of Cuervo. I was in bad shape this morning. If you read my blog from Wednesday you would know that because of inactivity, I’ve become something of a light weight. That experience on Wednesday should have given me some pause but damned if I don’t listen to my own advice.
Anyways, here are the pics from yesterday. I’m going to go drink some more water. I don’t think I want to drink any alcohol for a while.
Till next time

OUCH! (ps I cant feel a damn thing, I haven’t had much to drink in 4 months so I’m a cheap drunk)

Notice the chainring mark on my calf, thats hot!
